I started oil painting in 2019, but didn’t start properly till about 3/4 years later. These are some of my more recent paintings. I use canvas boards for every painting. They are all reasonably small but I hope to try out larger and bigger surfaces..
I have reduced the quality of my paintings for this section, so they may appear slightly blurred.

Magical Realism: The Iris Dragon (unfinished painting)
The largest painting I’ve done in years and possibly the most detailed. I began this in 2023, and do sections every now and again. I hope to finish this in the summer.
I didn’t really know much about oil painting from your imagination when I began this, however have learnt to build up from darker colours, and change my approach.
I designed both the animals in the painting, although they’re far from complete.

@lilybadianiThis painting was a gift, It took me about a week to complete, I enjoyed painting the shorter hair, and actually found it more difficult than longer hair, since the shades have to be a lot more accurate

@lilybadianiThis painting was a commission. It’s larger than the one above, and took me about 5-6 weeks to complete. I struggled with the tones and the colours, but mainly because I didn’t actually know how to oil paint. And approached this how I do with drawing, starting with the light and filling in. I reworked the light areas and then built up the layers of hair from there.
